Professional Experience

Robyn is considered to be one of Canada’s promising young vocalists who has successfully established herself as a true-to-form music stylist. Her live performances are an experience not to be missed. Aside from the multiple venues Robyn continues to sell out when she performs, she has made multiple appearances on national television, including Canada AM, Global TV, Breakfast Television, The New VR and Cable 14. Robyn has been featured on the cover of The Hamilton Magazine and has had countless radio, magazine and newspaper interviews. Robyn Pauhl is a dynamic, professional and incredibly talented young woman who never ceases to amaze her fans and audiences.

On July 4, 2003 Robyn officially released her first jazz and blues CD, which music critics hailed as a victory for and independently produced, first-time CD release. Since then she has performed at many festivals and clubs promoting her CD "One For My Baby", which has continuously been played on the radio across Canada. Presently, Robyn is in the process of writing her new all original rock, blues and R&B album. This highly anticipated album will be released at a later date to be announced.

At just twenty-four, Robyn already bears some imposing credentials. She has opened shows for U.S. country stars George Jones at Lulu's in Kitchener, Loretta Lynn at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton and the International Center in Toronto As well as for some eminent Canadian country acts such as Michelle Wright, Prairie Oyster, Jason McCoy, Beverly Mahood, Jim Witter, jazz artist Carol Wellsman and most recently Robyn performed in concert with world renowned jazz bassist, Dave Holland.

An enthralling performer, Robyn has a voice that has enough power and range to make it worth remarking on. Robyn sounds as if her passion could swallow the world. What lifts her performances miles above nastalgia is that she delivers her feelings with astonishing power and ebullience. One can see the emotional intensity that Robyn brings to everything she sings. There is a sincerity in her singing that pierces her audiences, spurring an immediate connection to her listeners.

Her love for country started at age ten and she was cleaning house at singing competitions. Next she went on to placing first at the Canadian National Exhibition's Country Singing Contest. Then in 1997 she won the Ontario Country Music Association's Rising Star Award. At fifteen, Robyn decided to get some studio experience and went to Nashville to complete a six song music demo with Odie Blackmon. Robyn's love for music extended into her high school life where she was the lead singer for the school's jazz band.In 2000, Robyn joined the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band, as the lead singer for two years. They performed at many venues including Hamilton Place with the Philharmonic, the Rex Hotel in Toronto, Hess Village Jazz Festival, Redeemer College and Tivoli theatre. They also recorded a live jazz CD, which was released at the beginning of January 2003.

Recently, Robyn successfully completed the three year program at Humber College on a full academic scholarship for vocal jazz performance, while continuing her career as a much-booked singer throughout Ontario. She was the lead vocalist in The Denny Christianson's Humber College Studio Jazz Ensemble. This group played at numerous venues throughout the year including, festivals, The Rex Hotel in Toronto and The Jazz FM 91.1 Sound of Toronto Jazz Concert Series, which was recorded live at Humber College and broadcasted on the radio at a later date. The ensemble also backed-up guest artists such as world renowned bassist Dave Holland and Canadian jazz vocalist Ranee Lee who performed in concert at Humber this year. As well this group recorded a new CD in the spring of 2005 at the CBC recording studio in Toronto, which is dated to be released this winter 2006.

Artist History

At age two, Robyn would love to watch musical movies repeatedly. Her favourite movies were "The Sound of Music" and "Annie". Robyn learned how to rewind and play the VCR before she turned two years old. She confidently would sing all the words without missing a beat. A fun loving girl and entertainer, she learned to play the ukelele in grade three. Robyn began performing publically at age nine after discovering Patsy Cline at ten years old. Robyn had a true love for country. Robyn's grandmother played "Walkin' After Midnight" for her and Robyn recalls "immediately liking the record because of the emotion and the way Patsy sang." Robyn's musical influences include such artists as Trisha Yearwood, Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Chet Baker, Janis Joplin, and Susan Tedeschi. She states, "I admire these singers because they sing from their hearts. They have a passion in their singing and they sing quality songs."

As Robyn moves forward with her career she will continue to perfect her craft as a vocalist and apply her knowledge of theory, composition, arranging for small and large ensembles, as well as the art of improvisation to her music. By the age of eleven was playing and singing across Ontario. Since then her mature voice and attitude towards the music business propelled her quickly to the forefront of the Canadian Music Scene. Robyn, a high achiever applied herself to the "ins and outs" of the music business quickly laying the foundation for a long and successful career in the industry. A talented young woman beautiful on the inside and outside, Robyn left audiences wanting to hear just one more song!
